Epik Montreal Review: The Ultimate Stay in Old Montreal

Nestled in the heart of Old Montreal, the Epik Hotel is an excellent choice for travelers seeking a unique and stylish stay. This boutique hotel boasts a prime location, hardwood floors with exposed brick walls, and an on-site restaurant and bar. Back in 2021, I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Epik Hotel for a quick trip to Montreal for my partner’s birthday. While slightly skeptical at first, the hotel and service exceeded my expectations in every way. In this review, I’ll share my experience with you and why the Epik Hotel should be on your list for your next visit to Montreal.

Location: The Heart of Old Montreal

One of the best things about the Epik Hotel is its location. Situated in the historic district of Old Montreal, it’s only steps away from some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, such as the Notre-Dame Basilica and the Montreal Science Centre. Whether you’re interested in history, art, or culture, there’s something for everyone in this charming neighborhood. Plus, the hotel is just a short walk from the waterfront and the bustling downtown area. Having stayed in Old Montreal and the Downtown area, I would only choose to stay near the Old Port going forward.

Rooms: Rustic and Chic

The rooms at the Epik Hotel are nothing short of stunning. The hardwood floors and exposed brick walls give the space a rustic and chic feel, while the modern amenities ensure a comfortable and convenient stay. Each room is uniquely decorated with vintage-inspired furniture and artwork, making every stay feel special and personalized. I particularly loved the large windows in my room, which offered a beautiful view of the street below. The only downside is the TV in the room, it was relatively tiny and felt very outdated.

Dining: Pub Wolf & Workman

A Winter Night in Montreal: Bar George and Mini Putt

Activities: Montreal Museum of Archaeology and History and SSENSE Store

There’s no shortage of things to do in Montreal, and the Epik Hotel’s location makes it easy to explore the city. On our last day in the city, We took a short walk to the Montreal Museum of Archaeology and History, located just a few blocks away from the hotel. The museum is housed in a historic building and features a range of exhibits on Montreal’s rich history and culture. The Museum turned out to be focused on Montreal History in particular which was a nice surprise from other Archaeology museums that focuses on other cultures. Another must-visit is the physical store of SSENSE, a popular online retailer of designer clothing and accessories. The store’s sleek and modern design is as impressive as the fashion it houses. Make sure to load up your online carts as you can have a designated fitting room slot and employees will hand pick your items for you!

Conclusion: Budget-Friendly Carpet Free Hotel

Overall, my stay at the Epik Hotel was unforgettable. The prime location, rustic-chic rooms, and excellent dining options make it the perfect choice for travelers looking for a unique and luxurious stay in Montreal. Service was excellent and they let us leave our luggages at the hotel past check-out while we explored the city! The hotel’s friendly and accommodating staff made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived, and I can’t wait to return on my next visit to the city. If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind experience in Montreal, the Epik Hotel is definitely the way to go!
