Located in the heart of Lisbon, the Heritage Avenida Liberdade Hotel is a luxurious and historic property that offers guests a unique and memorable stay in one of the most vibrant cities in Europe. This is a review from my first trip outside of Canada back in July 2017 with 2 other friends!

One of the best things about the Heritage Avenida Liberdade Hotel is its central location. Situated on Avenida da Liberdade, one of the most famous and beautiful avenues in Lisbon, the hotel is just steps away from some of the city’s most popular attractions, including the beautiful Rossio Square, the historic Bairro Alto neighborhood, and the stunning Praça do Comércio square.
Stylish Design
The hotel’s design is a perfect blend of old-world charm and modern elegance. The beautiful, historic building has been beautifully restored and renovated, with stylish decor and contemporary furnishings that create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The hotel’s rooms and suites are all beautifully designed and feature hardwood floors, elegant furnishings, and luxurious bedding to ensure a comfortable and restful night’s sleep. Being frugal new grads, we booked a double room for 3 people and luckily enough for us, it was more than enough space with 2 single beds and 1 roll-away!
Luxurious Amenities

The hotel’s heated swimming pool is the perfect place to relax and unwind after a day of exploring the city, while the well-equipped fitness center is ideal for those who want to stay in shape while on vacation. The hotel’s restaurant serves delicious, locally sourced cuisine, and the bar is the perfect place to enjoy a drink or two in the evenings. The service was also excellent, and they allowed us to keep our luggage at the hotel while we went for a 1-day trip to Faro!

If you want to experience the delicious seafood offerings at Cervejaria Ramiro, it is highly recommended to make a reservation in advance via email. The restaurant can get very busy, especially during peak hours, so securing a spot ahead of time is crucial.

Arrabida Kayak Tour
During our stay at the Heritage Avenida Liberdade Hotel, we decided to book a kayak tour with GetYourGuide. The tour took us to the beautiful Arrábida Natural Park, just a short drive from Lisbon, where we had the opportunity to explore the stunning coastline and crystal-clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly, and we learned a lot about the local wildlife and ecosystems as we paddled along the coast. It was a truly unforgettable experience that we would highly recommend to anyone visiting Lisbon.
During our kayak tour, we were hungry and eager to try some of the local cuisine. We decided to head to a nearby restaurant recommended by our guide, where we enjoyed a delicious and authentic Portuguese lunch. The food was fresh, flavorful, and expertly prepared, and we loved the cozy and intimate atmosphere of the restaurant. It was the perfect way to end our day of adventure and exploration.
Another highlight of the Kayaking Tour was a visit to the Moor Castle, located in the town of Sintra, just a short drive from the city. The castle is a beautiful and historic landmark that dates back to the 8th century, and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. We loved exploring the castle’s many towers, courtyards, and gardens, and learning about the fascinating history of this important cultural site.
