No Carpet Hotels lists hotels with hard floors in the rooms — wood, tile,
stone, vinyl, polished concrete — because for some of us a carpeted room is
the difference between sleeping well and not sleeping at all.
It started as a private list. If you have allergies, asthma, or you simply
cannot stand the smell of an old carpet, you learn to ask hotels the same
question over and over and to distrust the answer. Hotel photographs are lit
and staged, “recently renovated” can mean the lobby, and nobody puts the
flooring in the room description. So we started writing it down.
How a hotel gets listed
Every listing says how we know. Two badges, because there are only two
honest answers:
- Stayed & reviewed — we stayed in the room and saw the floor.
34 of the 333 hotels currently listed, and every one
of those write-ups describes the floor we walked on. - Human verified — we have not stayed, but a person
looked at photographs of the room and judged the floor. Never an AI model,
never a listing description copied across.
We check the room you sleep in. Corridors are a separate question, and for
most hotels we have not recorded them yet, so we do not claim either way.

What we get wrong
Hotels renovate. A floor that was hard when we checked can be carpeted a
year later. Every listing carries the date it was last checked, so you can see
how recent our look was.
If you find carpet where we said there was none, tell us and we will take
the listing down while we check again. A list nobody corrects is a list nobody
should trust.
The commercial bit
Booking links on this site earn a commission when someone books through
them, at no extra cost to you. It pays for the hosting and some of the
travel. It does not decide what gets listed: hotels cannot pay to appear, and
we have never listed a carpeted hotel because somebody asked. See our affiliate disclosure
