Carpet is where dust, dander and mite allergen collect in a hotel room, and it is the one thing a booking site will not tell you about. Are these chain hotels or independents?
Both. 38 of the 48 belong to a chain and 10 are independent. Chains are the more predictable bet for hard floors — the newer design-led brands are built that way — but being part of a chain guarantees nothing, which is why each property here was checked on its own rather than assumed from its brand.
