Carpet-Free Halifax?
Looking for a stylish and eco-friendly hotel in Eastern Canada? Look no further than the Muir Hotel! With its brand new, modern design and hard floors throughout, this hotel is a unique gem in a region dominated by carpeted accommodations. We’ve been delaying a visit out to Halifax for a while since it’s been so difficulty to find a carpet-free option so this review is a must!
Location
Located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the Muir Hotel is nestled in the heart of one of Canada’s most vibrant and historic cities. From the hotel, guests can easily access a range of exciting activities and attractions. For example, we had a chance for a picnic lunch at the nearby beautiful Halifax Public Gardens. The gardens are full of colorful flowers and beautiful fountains, making them a popular spot for tourists and locals alike.
Another great nearby attraction is the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site. This impressive fortress dates back to the 1800s and offers a fascinating glimpse into the region’s military history. Visitors can explore the site on a guided tour or take part in one of the many special events and activities that take place there throughout the year.
Activities
For those looking for a more active vacation, Halifax offers plenty of options as well. The city is home to several excellent hiking trails, including the challenging but rewarding Cape Split Trail. This 16-kilometre hike offers stunning views of the Bay of Fundy and is a great way to get some exercise while taking in the natural beauty of the region. Unfortunately we only attempted around 3 kilometres before turning around!
For water lovers, Halifax also offers plenty of opportunities for kayaking, canoeing, and other water sports. One popular option is to take a guided sea kayaking tour of the Halifax Harbor, which offers a unique perspective on the city’s skyline and waterfront. We took the Sunset tour with Harbour Watercraft Tours & Adventures which as an amazing experience.
Of course, no visit to Halifax would be complete without exploring the city’s famous food and drink scene. Halifax is known for its fresh seafood, craft beer, and locally roasted coffee, so be sure to check out some of the city’s best restaurants, bars, and cafes during your stay.

As for the hotel itself, the Muir Hotel offers a range of comfortable and stylish rooms to suit every traveler’s needs. Each room is thoughtfully designed with eco-friendly materials and features hard floors throughout. This design choice not only gives the rooms a modern and stylish look but also ensures that they are easy to clean and maintain. We can’t mention how incredible it is to experience a brand-new hotel with hard floors.
In addition to the stylish rooms, the Muir Hotel also offers a range of amenities to help guests make the most of their stay. The hotel features a rooftop terrace with stunning views of the city and harbor, as well as a fitness center and on-site restaurant.
